With empty pockets, Fringe administer Peter Tregilgas and I
meet with one of the biggest 1980’s property speculators in a Sydney boardroom full of suits.
Convincing them to allow us to use a derelict factory for Fringe venues & Fringe Club in exchange for a peppercorn rent and promising to try to convince the government to purchase the site and develop it as an alternative arts centre which they did. The Lion Arts Centre became the home for Fringe Festivals for several years.
