Welcome to the 49th Adelaide Fringe (so old and yet looking so lovely).

There are over 500 deluxe events for your enjoyment. I believe there are three
reasons that so many thousands of artists continue to use the Adelaide Fringe to present their work.

Firstly, Adelaide audiences are amazing. They are inquisitive and genuinely support creative effort. We buy tickets.

Secondly, Adelaide in summer is a national gathering place for creative people. It’s a perfectly sized city for a festival and there’s nothing like being in a vibrant place with likeminded people.

And thirdly, it is a market. Festival directors, promoters, agents and bookers from venues around Australia and further afield descend on Adelaide in the search for new work. The Adelaide Fringe welcomes and encourages them.

In 2009 over 293 works are Australian premieres. New, fresh, hot work that launches itself on the world from Adelaide this summer. You see it first!

The Adelaide Fringe is already the largest arts festival in Australia. It is nurtured by a team of staff, a family of sponsors and a Board who care tremendously for its success. We share a vision and a commitment and are grateful to the thousands of artists and audiences alike who make this City such a fab place to be each year.
