The Afro Rhythm and Dance Group evolved out of a workshop situation set up to study traditional African rhythms and dances. They are a group of nine musicians and performers who have been together for over a year playing African and Afro-Latin music for its ancient and magical power to speak directly to the feet and hearts of the dancers. Afro Rhythm aim to dissolve the conventional barriers between passive audience/active performer; their intention is total participation through dance and song.
