The Punu And The Tjukurpa Wangkanyi (Art Craft & Story)

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
Presented by: "Kupa Piti" Kungka Tjuta (Women's Council Inc)
At: Inbarendi Fringe Gallery
1st Floor, Gerard Goodman Building, Synagogue Pl, East End

Yankunytjatjaral, Antikirinya and Matutjara are a small group of traditional women (plus two men!) from the historical SA mining town of Coober Pedy. Through their authentic art and craft, they strive to preserve their indigenous culture and identity. The recent launch of Jessie Lennon's autobiography And I Always Been Moving reflects history from an Aboriginal perspective, and will complement the exhibition.
