Yalata Inspired

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
Presented by: Yalata Artists / J B Thomason
At: Inbarendi Fringe Gallery
1st Floor, Gerard Goodman Building, Synagogue Pl, East End

The Pitjantjatjara people of Yalata (206 kms west of Ceduna in SA) were forcibly removed in 1952 when their homelands were cleared for nuclear bomb tests. Culturally, their past and present lifestyle has always needed artistic expression. This exhibition selects some results of many painting sessions shared by Jim Thomason with Yalata artists.
