In Sweet Staccato Rising we meet Gunner and Slit-Fish, two teenagers struggling to survive on the poverty line. In their world there?s nothing to do and nothing matters. Gunner?s father is dead and he went to high school with his mother?s new boyfriend, whilst Slit-Fish?s family abandoned her long ago.
