From the 2010 Adelaide Fringe People's Choice Award nominated Adelaide University Fringe Club comes a new production of Oscar Wilde's seminal classic - The Importance of Being Earnest. Produced and Directed by James Moffatt Starring Omkar Nagesh, Amy Campbell, Joshua Kapitza, Vanessa Redmond, Sophia Bubner, Matthew Harnett, Alison Walsh, and Geoff Dawes When Jack (Nagesh): an allegedly upright gentleman wants to take a walk on the wilder side of life, he pretends to be his own fictional estranged brother, Earnest, to avoid tarnishing his reputation, but when masquerading as Earnest he meets Algy (Kapitza) who introduces to him his cousin Gwendolen (Redmond). The two fall madly in love and wish to get married, but Gwendolen's overbearing mother, Lady Bracknell (Campbell) won't allow it until Jack can produce some parents, a resource that unfortunately has been denied to him. Throw Jack's pretty young ward Cecily (Bubner), a foppish priest (Harnett), an absent-minded governess (Walsh), and a pair of sarcastic butlers (Dawes) into the mix and you have a recipe for... something at least. Directed, staged by, and starring up and coming talent drawn from the University of Adelaide community, this production promises an evening of love, laughs, and wicked Wildean wit. Performances will be on the 25th, 26th, and 27th of February at the Mead Hall, located at the Flinders Street Baptist Church in the city. Doors open at 6:30 for 7:00 performances. Tickets are 15 dollars or 10 dollars concession.
