_x0018_ Two days ago I woke up and found my friend had been deleted_x0019_ Grief can do funny things to a person. It makes you talk to yourself, reach out to those you haven_x0019_ t seen or thought compatible in years, eat, drink and forget basic tasks _x0013_ like putting on your shoes. Loosely biographical, this one-woman play explores the difficulties of modern grief _x0013_ especially if you_x0019_ ve never met the person you_x0019_ re mourning. In a world where electronic communication is increasingly easy (Livejournal boasts over 28 million blogs, Facebook, over 500 million users and Twitter has now reached a staggering 50 million _x0018_ tweets_x0019_ per day), and traditional definitions of meeting a person are challenged daily, our social networks become more and more tangled, leaving one to question, are the emotions that you feel towards a person you_x0019_ ve never touched or seen before real? It is a story, told through a conversation between a woman, herself, and a memory. It touches both the comic and tragic sides of loss, lingering occasionally on the absurd. It is an exploration of how grief can turn the simplest and most mundane aspects of life into seemingly impossible feats. And, in the end, are there any epiphanies to be found? 'no blinding light' is a new work and Apples and Shoes_x0019_ debut show, and first appearance at the Adelaide Fringe. Directed by Kara Stacey Merrin, written and performed by Phoebe Anne Taylor, with original composition by Adrian Sergovich.
