Four years ago, Better World Arts recognised the need for a cultural centre for the Anangu community now residing in Adelaide. We started painting workshops in the little gallery next door to our shop in the centre of Port Adelaide. The Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara artists wanted a safe place to nurture and develop and practice their art and culture. Since these early days we have striven to develop into a flourishing arts hub and we have held many exhibitions, travelled with artists interstate, helped to form Ngura Wiru Winkiku Indigenous Corporation and formed partnership with Taoundi Aboriginal College. We now have dedicated studios on our premises with access to a wide range of art mediums including ceramics and printmaking. Through these varied partnerships, countries and backgrounds, we are one big proud family and we invite you to see the latest work emerging from our studios in Port Adelaide. Our Big Family showcases our latest Aboriginal paintings, prints, sculpture and baskets with a focus on family connection.
