Box City Theatre Company has a reputation for being original and the Fringe 2011 premiere of Snout is no exception. Presenting a tale of genetically modified (GM) pigs at the end of their use-by date, Snout trots into Adelaide this February with all the hallmarks of another hit. Three GM pigs, Pax, Shell and Jack have not been fed for days. Each with blue skin and boasting their own unique _x0018_ talents_x0019_ , they are woken one morning by the arrival of a seemingly _x0018_ normal_x0019_ pig with pink skin. Treating _x0018_ Pinkie_x0019_ as a welcome distraction, the pigs immediately begin debating whether she has joined them to breed, or to be eaten. When Jack falls sick after biting Pinkie_x0019_ s leg, suspicions abound and Pinkie finds herself having to prove she is as special as they are. But not even the cynical GM_x0019_ s could be prepared for what happens next, when the nature of Jack_x0019_ s sickness takes them all by surprise, and Pinkie by the throat... Snout is the Box City_x0019_ s second Adelaide production after its Fringe 2010 sell-out, Inanimate Eats Rage (see reviews below). Offering a mix of humour, surprise, and science-fiction absurdity, it is also one of several shows welcoming the Bally Tent to Adelaide for its inaugural Fringe season in Rymil Park. The Bally is a 10-metre dome tent with Victorian classical era decorations (including a chandelier and velvet drapes) and is part of Gluttony, an outdoor space at the corner of Grenfell Street and East Terrace, Rymil Park. Gluttony offers great food and wine, a fully licensed bar, a number of different venues, and of course, the premiere of Snout, which is sure to get tongues wagging at Fringe 2011. Snout will be presented on February 18, 23 at 8.30pm, Feb 23 at 10pm, and March 1,2, 6 at 7pm. Tickets are $15 ($12 concession) and are available through FringeTix (www.adelaidefringe.com.au/Ticketing/Buy-Tickets.aspx) or on the door. Inanimate Eats Rage reviews (Adelaide media): _x001C_ This local act is worth catching if you are in the mood for something loud and brazen with a harsher, humorous edge & you will chuckle at the all-too-familiar irrational outbursts._x001D_ Lisa Catt, 'The Independent Weekly.' _x001C_ Pop along, see this show and witness old technology get smashed to bits with orgiastic fervour in this short and sharp comedy & . Any hippies planning to attend would be ill advised to sit in the front row._x001D_ Carl Cranstone, 'Rip It Up magazine'. _x001C_ The chaos _x0013_ combined with the intimacy of the tiny cramped space _x0013_ has a strangely hilarious cathartic effect, even if the laughter occurs at the same time as some incredulous head-shaking._x001D_ Jamie Wright, 'Adelaide Theatre Guide'.
