ACB Goes Classical
Music
Presented by:
THE CITY OF ADELAIDE BAND
At:
The German Club
223 Flinders Street, Adelaide
The Adelaide Concert Band (ACB), with our conductor Sergey Grynchuk, will present a variety of music for your entertainment. Although including a number of true classical pieces, it may be better to consider this concert as a program of _x001C_ classics_x001D_ rather than classical music per se. The variety of this concert performance is shown not only in the differing styles and genres performed, but also chronologically and geographically. Chronologically the origins of some of the pieces date back more than two centuries, while others are from the modern era of popular culture. Geographically we have tunes from Russia, continental Europe, various regions of the United Kingdom, South and North American, and yes, from Australia as well. In terms of genres you will hear true classical masterpieces from composers such as Tchaikovsky, Bach and Bizet - to name just a few. These will be contrasted with both traditional and contemporary pieces, which reflect the historical and popular cultures of the _x001C_ western_x001D_ world. Apart from the varied selection of music, the performance by the 35+ piece concert band, of predominately brass and woodwind instrumentation, provides a refreshing distinctiveness. To assist in your enjoyment bar facilities will be available, as well as meals prior to the show (bookings for meals preferred with the German Club).
