Presented by: DAN HALES AND GAY MEN'S HEALTH

3461_asylum_large_eful_guide

A young man cruises the streets of an unidentifiable city looking to satiate his innate desires... desires natural to him, but which are not accepted by his family, his community, his religion... his world. A chance encounter leads to a dance of desire, but these young men are not alone. The young man_x0019_ s subsequent arrest by the police begins a journey of rejection, hardship, despair but finally hope. From the dirty cell of a police slum to the dry desert of a detention centre and the sparse walls of a mental hospital, 'Asylum' tells the story of a young man seeking just that, in an effort to escape persecution based on his sexual orientation. But will his journey to this new, unknown land provide the safety and security he craves, or will it only serve to inflict upon him a new form of persecution based not on his love for another man, but on the colour of his skin. Inspired by a true story.
