Expresiones will take you on a World Music journey that_x0019_ s energetic, fun and at times a little crazy. _x0018_ Latin American instruments and rhythms, fused with funk, rock and reggae_x0019_ Latin America will come alive in Adelaide during the Adelaide Fringe Festival. Come and enjoy these two amazing shows during the Fringe Fest. One at the hub of multicultural arts _x0018_ Nexus Cabaret_x0019_ and the other at McLaren Vale_x0019_ s picturesque _x0018_ The Singing Gallery_x0019_ Expresiones is a six piece band. Fronted by the talented Espinosa brothers, Expresiones pushes Latin American creativity by being one of the few Latin American acts in Australia to write their own music. Noni and Jaime Jr learned and grew up playing traditional Andean music in Adelaide. Noni is a talented guitarist and stringed instrumentalist while Jaime Jr is amongst Australia_x0019_ s best panpipe players. Expresiones are. Noni Espinosa: Lead vocals, guitars, tiple. Jaime Jr Espinosa: Sikus, kena flute, backup vocals. Jaime Espinosa: Congas, percussion, backup vocals. Tony Hole: Keyboard, djembe, cajon, backup vocals. Jose Leon: Bass, backup vocals. Michael Micelli: Drum kit Andean tunes, tropical Caribbean beats and Mexican ballads are modernized and uniquely expressed against the background of the ancient cry of the Incas. Expresiones uses iconic Latin American instruments, the most famous being the Sikus (panpipes). Made out of bamboo, the Sikus is one of the oldest Andean instruments. Traditionally carved out of the condor_x0019_ s leg bone, the Kena flute, was only used by Incan high priests. The Tiple, used in tropical rhythms such as Cumbia and Vallenatos is a 12 string resonating guitar originating from Colombia. An Expresiones performance promises an amazing array of rhythms to tantalize your soul and inspires you to dance. Energetic, fun and at times, a little crazy. The shows Nexus Cabaret: An energy charged performance that will bring the roof down. Expresiones considers Nexus its home venue. At the age of twelve and thirteen, the Espinosa brothers held their first performance at Nexus and have continued to perform there on numerous occasions. Nexus holds a special place in their heart. Dancing shoes highly recommended. Sat 5th March, 5pm - 60mins The Singing Gallery An intimate evening in the wine region of McLaren Vale. Unlike any other venue, The Singing Gallery brings Expresiones so close to the audience, any closer and everybody would be on stage.
