Winners of the Adelaide Fringe Award for Best Circus 2010 Freefall, the award-winning and sell out show by Gravity & Other Myths explores fears, both common and bizarre, and the way these fears affect who we are and how we interact with those around us. Drawing on their strong repertoire of circus and physical theatre skills, the young cast reveal the underlying honesty and vulnerability of seven distinct characters as they face up to their fears. Fear is common across all cultures and the inherent risk-taking and trust forming nature of high level acrobatics is the perfect visual medium with which to explore these concepts. The artists combine traditional circus disciplines including hula hoop, juggling, adagio, hoop diving and acrobatic pitching with contemporary movement and physical theatre to develop a dynamic and innovative performance style. Using interactive lighting and dynamic audio, the artists create an engaging and atmospheric performance space. Through spoken word and the unique physicality of each character, Freefall transcends the conventional concept of fear to show the deeper complexities that fear evokes in us all. "Impressive, clever and very entertaining." - Arts Hub "Bloody Amazing... my emotional response to this performance was one of tearful joy. And that's something I haven't had from many shows& ever. - Festival Freak Suitable for ages 10+ Non-aggressive exploration of themes of fear, dangerous objects and behaviours
