The Royal South Australian Society of Arts (RSASA) is an icon of the Arts in South Australia, founded 20 years after the colony in 1856. Moving on, 155 years later the RSASA is still leading the way amongst art galleries with a membership of professional artists, and through this exhibition linked with a title including the Adelaide Cup, also an icon to SA. The SAJC'S leading the way in horse racing. This exhibition brings forth art into horse racing. A horse is a horse, of course , but when it is racing it is something else, a racing horse, quick to the finish line. The atmosphere, the celebrations, the fashions, the colours, all embedded into a day at the races. From the exhibition 'Adelaide Cup 2011, Up & Running,at the RSASA Gallery', and members of the RSASA, you will discover the talents of these talented artists, depicting the carnival atmosphere, with paint onto canvases, paper, into sculptures, printmaking, photography, mixed media and more. An exhibition of artworks celebrating this build up to a race, to the finish line, the hype, the tensions, the happiness, the training, all comes together for these artists. the Official Launch will be Sunday March 6th, 2.00pm in the RSASA Gallery, Level 1, Institute Bldg, Cnr North Tce & Kintore Ave, Adelaide, by Mr David Peacock, Chairman SAJC's. Be there and capture the image.
