A New Australian Musical: _x0018_ IT_x0019_ S A DAD THING_x0019_ SINGular Productions are proud to present _x0018_ It_x0019_ s a Dad thing!_x0019_ , a new South Australian musical revue based on the play of the same name. The play was written by 6 Australian artists (and dads) Liam Amor, Michael Fry, Matt Green, Colin James, David Lander and Geoff Paine in 1999. The composer and Music Director is well-known Adelaide musician Matthew Carey and David Lampard, director of the highly successful _x0018_ Elegies: A Song Cycle', have developed the play to suit the musical format. _x0018_ It's A Dad Thing!_x0019_ is a roller coaster ride of laughter, tears and songs, chaotic, fun, shocking and truthful. Pretty much like parenthood itself with an interval! The show features a group of 5 dads who come together to build a playground for a local working bee . It is a fast-paced series of vignettes examining parenthood from a strictly male perspective, some serious, some hysterical, monologues, sketches and songs. The show covers pre-natal classes (where even the men practice pelvic floor exercises), the actual births (six hours of Enya tapes - the horror!), attempts to cross the squeaky floorboards without waking the kids, introducing them to sharp knives, alcohol and pizza - meet Superdad. And that's just the first half. Then we meet Zombie Dad losing twins in his own house, using the same nappy twice, and saying farewell to the last symbol of youth, a '63 XL Falcon. Everything you wanted to know about dads but were too scared to ask - Hurry - bookings filling fast!
