South Australia's leading Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander festival showcasing the very best in national and local contemporary music; traditional ceremony; cultural workshops; visual arts, live theatre; film and cultural tours. The Spirit Festival kicks off with a FREE concert Saturday night 6pm-11pm headlined by Aria award winning rhythm and groove sensation DAN SULTAN delivering a smoldering mix of 21st Century blues, soul, country and rock adding real heat to a hot starry summer night. Mary G Black Queen of the Kimberley brings her outrageous and hilarious brand of music to South Australia for the first time. Lady Lash & Kineman Karma pump the R&B grooves; Iwantja Band with their deadly reggae influenced desert surf guitar; for funked Jazz the Jess Beck Quartet; bringing the Rap & Hip Hop Karnage & Darkniss and releasing his new CD Jimblah! Your MC for the evening the shining star, the very fresh Ms. Natasha Wanganeen. Too Deadly! Now we move to our Free cultural day on Sunday 11-6pm you will be moved when a kaleidescope of contemporary and traditional dance performers from across the state dance up a big on the ceremonial ground. A mass choir featuring the languages of the Kaurna, Ngarrindjerri and Adnyamathanha will sing loud throughout the park. The UniSA writer's tent provides an opportunity to hear readings and the work process of our writers. You can participate in workshops and cultural activities, we have an arts market where you can pick up unique art and craft& .there_x0019_ s so much to do for everyone to enjoy we haven_x0019_ t forgotten about the little people with plenty of activities just for them. Sunday is a great day for you to engage with the oldest living culture in the world and the beautiful shaded Mullawirraburka (Rymill Park) is just perfect for a blanket and picnic basket (we will have food and beverages available). This is an alcohol and drug free family friendly event. Don_x0019_ t be shy..all welcome! Don't forget from Monday 21 to Sunday 27 Tandanya National Aboriginal Cultural Insitute will host a range of events from theatre, film, visual arts and tour guides.
