"After 5 years as a principal soprano with Opera Australia, Ali has leapt into the world of cabaret and variety with her Opera Burlesque and Variety Night becoming cult hits at Melbourne Comedy and Edinburgh Fringe Festivals. Her solo show 'Jazz Cigarette' sold out shows at the Adelaide Cabaret Festival and Edinburgh Fringe and her debut CD of the same name featuring James Morrison is set to be released in early 2011. Here she returns with an afternoon of jazz standards and fresh takes of classic songs both new and old. Backed by a trio of the finest jazz musicians this hour of gorgeous song. "Cabaret favourite Ali McGregor has the kind of silky smooth singing voice that transports you to a different plane, in a way that makes you forget everything you were doing before walking in to the theatre and everything you intended to be doing when you walk out again" The Scotsman 2010 'Opera singer turned pop reinventor turned comedienne, Ali McGregor, now gives the jazz repertoire a much-needed makeover in her inimitable, sexed-up style' The Adelaide Advertiser 2009
