The JMG Band In Concert with Heather Frahn & Chris Finnen brings together an emerging group of songwriters and performers with two experienced and unique singers and songwriters. Each will contribute their own performance to the concert and then come together for several works on which they have collaborated. The Church of The Trinity is an ideal venue as it has established a high reputation over several years through its monthly contemporary concerts featuring original songs and music ans well as performances by Australian and International artists. With its great acoustics and relaxing atmosphere it is especially suited to concerts featuring the voice and a variety of music styles. Heather Frahn and Chris Finnen are well known Adelaide based performers and singer-songwriters with national and overseas touring credits. Heather Frahn performs both solo as well as with her trio, The Heather Frahn Trio, and covers musical territory from folk, blues and roots styles to more ambient music. She is also a Composer for theatre and dance productions often exploring vocal and electronic textures combined with percussive and rhythmic elements. Apart from her rich and powerful voice, she has developed a unique guitar style using an acoustic guitar specially built for her. And find out more about Heather Frahn at www.heatherfrahn.com Chris Finnen is an Australian blues legend both through his own solo and group performances and through touring with other blues artists such as Matt Taylor. He has also explored World Music as a member of several ensembles from Celtic influenced to Indian music. Chris is just as much at home in acoustic and electric styles of guitar playing. The JMG Band has been developed through The Jam, The Mix, The Gig music and mental health project which is funded by Arts SA and the SA Mental Health Service, with Adelaide Composer Robert Petchell as Music and Project Director. With one CD of original songs already released and a second to be recorded in January 2011, The JMG Band performs music for both listening and dancing. With 15 members, The JMG Band covers quite a wide range of musical styles in both acoustic and electric areas. However what brings this all together, and is the basis for the collaboration, is a passion for creativity, exploration and original songs. The JMG Band has invited Heather Frahn and Chris Finnen to be the first collaboration in what will be an ongoing series of collaborations. As part of this collaboration with Heather Frahn and Chris Finnen, there will 2 other performances leading up to the concert on March 13th - Thursday, February 24th from 11am _x0013_ 2pm as part of the SoundWaves event at The SA Folk Centre, corner of George Street & South Road, Thebarton and Tuesday, March 2nd from 10.30am _x0013_ 2pm at the Musicworks event at The Governor Hindmarsh Hotel, 59 Port Road, Hindmarsh.
