THE LOST RUNG
The Lost Rung Presents Nice Work If You Can Get It The fluorescent lights buzz on, the coffee pot bubbles and your screen glows. Your briefcase is heavy and your patent leather shoes have a stone in them. One day we'll get to corporate heaven, but for now it's 9am, your inbox is filling up and who the hell broke your coffee cup? Set in a corporate office, this show explores universal themes such as power, isolation and camaradarie. A darkly satirical look at the machinations and manipulations of two office workers who will risk everything to climb the corporate ladder. Through physical confrontations and stylised, absurd situations, the piece examines the futility and cyclical nature of the modern office environment. The Lost Rung employ their trademark brand of highly physical, acrobatic theatre to create this energetic, poignant and sometimes violent work. The Lost Rung have been creating works for the last three years. The company was created by Josh Mitchell and Adam Jackson with their work drawing on their training in theatre, dance and circus. They have recently completed a successful run in the 2010 Melbourne Comedy Festival and prior to that have performed in both the Melbourne and Adelaide fringe festivals. This work was developed through the 'Kage Coach' program at the Victorian Arts Centre where they were mentored by Kage Physical Theatre. 'A great piece of Physical Theatre' - Peter Burden, the Adelaide Advertiser 'a performance filled with energy, excitement, humour and considerable talent.' - Ripitup.com.au
