The Strolling Tones were conceived by Gloria and Terry Seymour in 2004 for the express purpose of raising money for cancer research. Classic Aussie larrikin, Terry, had prostate cancer and he didn_x0019_ t want to sit back and wait to die, it wasn_x0019_ t his style. With a love of music and close friends in amateur theatre, The Strolling Tones came together and began their performing history in the Barossa Valley at Bowls Club fundraisers. A few years later the group performed a three week touring show, _x0018_ Wipeout Breast and Prostate Cancer_x0019_ . The show was embraced by its three country destinations and raised a whopping $55,000. Terry unfortunately lost his battle with cancer three years ago and is sorely missed. _x001C_ With Terry in our heart we continue on, raising money so one day there will be answers to these diseases and others may live_x001D_ , said spokesperson Kristina Vonow. With a grounding in 40s through to 80s popular music and with fantastic costuming provided by Jan Buck, the Strolling Tones have entertained thousands of South Australians. The group performs well known tunes from artists such as; ABBA, Dusty Springfield, Tom Jones, Linda Ronstadt, The Seekers, Queen, Beatles, and Elvis to name just a few! The Strolling Tones have performed at various sporting club fundraisers, the 2009 Royal Adelaide Hospital Volunteer Luncheon, a wedding, the Port Pirie 100th Anniversary of High School Education, birthdays, open days, fashion parades and fetes. The close knit group are bonded by their fond memories of Terry and driven by their need to see a cure for cancer found. They say they have more fun performing and rehearsing than the audience has watching, but when you see them, you_x0019_ ll wonder if that_x0019_ s possible.
