Arkaroola and the Flinders Ranges in 3D - Standing in Amazement

Film
Presented by: TIM BAIER

Tim Baier has travelled the globe specializing in feature film visual effects. He recently finished supervising the stereoscopic department of Warner Brothers Legend of the Guardians, the only film to have received a perfect 35/35 score in Cinema Blend's 3D review: "Final Verdict: Legend of the Guardians is the new high watermark in 3D. Forget Avatar, this is the best 3D anyone has done so far." _x0014_ Cinema Blend After years of helping to invent the worlds found within movies, Tim longed to reconnect with nature and the wonders of our world, in the process he fell in love with Arkaroola and the Flinders Ranges. Tim used his feature film expertise to capture wild light and bring it back to the city with the dimension it should have... judging by audience reactions, some degree of success may have been found: Totally Spectacular _x0014_ Ralph & Val Mind blowing, I am lost for words _x0014_ Emilia It was cool! It was beautiful _x0014_ Eve (6 years old) Fantastic, I've been there but not like that _x0014_ Roman Absolutely stunning, thank you! _x0014_ Ruth Wonderful, wonderful!! _x0014_ Wilma & Ron Keep following your dreams _x0014_ Glenda Almost touch the beautiful crystals, be amazed by extraordinary flora and fauna, and ponder the cataclysmic events that shaped our continent. Learn why Sir Douglas Mawson loved Arkaroola so much he longed for it to be preserved for posterity. And perhaps, appreciate why it is important for us to spare one of its most unique jewels, Mt Gee, from the short-sighted capitalism and heavy-weight politics that, at every opportunity, is relentlessly turning our country into a quarry for the rest of the world... Mining is important, and it can be done in environmentally friendly ways, as illustrated on the plains just 24 km from Mt Gee, where eons of erosion have naturally concentrated uranium and new mining technology is being used to extract large quantities by effectively rinsing it out of the ground using water with the pH of cola soft drink. In contrast, Mt Gee in the heart of the sanctuary, would require a hard-rock mine that excavates and crushes ore, yet even South Australia's own Department of Environment and Heritage has proposed rezoning the area in such a way as to more readily facilitate approval of this destructive type of mining. Tim hopes that sharing his fascination and love for Arkaroola will help preserve it for future generations to experience.
