Orpheus, the legendary musician, poet and prophet in ancient mythology, "the father of songs" and the greatest of all poets and musicians whose _x0018_ music and singing could charm the birds and coax the trees and rocks into dance_x0019_ , died at the hands of those who could not hear his divine music. According to Syrian mythology Orpheus never died and Adnaan believes that he is still there, singing with the Syrian people who are chanting for their dignity and freedom, and he will not stop playing his music until peace covers our Earth. Syrian Orpheus will showcase Adnaan_x0019_ s unique technique on the Oud, an instrument that captures the mystery and enchantment of the Middle East with its complex melodies and tones. Each show will showcase original new pieces, as well as couple of masterpieces written for the Oud by the likes of Fareed Al Atrash, Moneer Basheer and Naseer Shamma. The music he will be playing consists of a variety of genres from Sufi to Descriptive, Meditative, Glee, and Dance music. Adnaan released his debut album Dinaan during last year_x0019_ s Adelaide Fringe, which is comprised of a set of his own compositions for the Oud. These songs carry the auditory legacy of folk, traditional, classical, and modern Middle Eastern music, as well as classical and modern Western music. For anyone who enjoys the sound of the Middle East, this show is not to be missed. You won_x0019_ t be disappointed!
