The Earl of Rochester_x0019_ s most controversial play, is being reimagined by a collective of Perth's top comedians and burlesque performers. Banned for over two hundred years, The Farce of Sodom is a sinful spectacle of hilariously shocking theatre, which takes us into the final hedonistic days of the world's most debaucherous city - Sodom. When their King illegalises heterosexuality he, along with the cities inhabitants, begin on a path that will end in their fiery demise. The Sodom women, discarded by their men, will try anything to find satisfaction. While the King and his men seek more creative ways to get off - embracing promiscuity, masturbation, bestiality and incest. It seems there is only one way to cure the world of the debauchery seeping from the city. Sodom must burn, but true to form it's going to go out with a bang. Join Lady Officina, with her chorus of dancing sodomites, as they take you on a journey through their infamous city. In a night of tantalising burlesque performances and delightfully grotesque characters, the story of the ill-fated Sodom unfolds. In the most depraved city known to man, anything goes. The Earl of Rochester_x0019_ s unabashed acceptance of human sexuality and scathing criticism of hypocrisy are explored in The Farce of Sodom with both wisdom and humour. First performed in the late 17th Century, this unique text polarized and shocked audiences with an explicit depiction of monstrous sexual desire and homosexuality. Combining Rochester's poetic wit, as one of the greatest satirists of his time, with sultry burlesque performces, Aleela Creatives breathe new life into this unique, classic text. Playfully recounting the climatic demise of this infamous city with singing, dancing, comedy and striptease, making The Farce of Sodom a debaucherously pleasurable night at the theatre.
