"Aluka_x0019_ s live performance must be seen to be believed& a sick part of your consciousness wanted them to hit a wrong note, just to verify such sound was really a human product." -Izzy Tolhurst, FasterLouder- Hailing from Melbourne town, Aluka are a three piece a cappella trio. With a passion for experimentation and creativity, Aluka are on a constant quest to reinvent the genre and the somewhat negative connotations attached to it. They sing original contemporary tunes that incorporate intricate harmonies, body and vocal percussion, tempo and time signature changes. There_x0019_ s no shoo-wapping or doo-wapping here, Aluka are as beautifully badass as any vocal group can be. The ladies of Aluka were perpetually frustrated by the false notion that you are either a _x0018_ singer_x0019_ or a _x0018_ musician_x0019_ ; that a solo vocalist was somehow less of a technical artist than someone with an instrument in their hands. Perhaps they started the band to prove a point, but since forming in 2008, they have fostered a musical bond, creating inventive sound scapes of vivid sonic colour. They pride themselves on their ability to cast away the shackles of timber and steel, instead using only their vocal chords. After supporting Clare Bowditch at the Governor Hindsmarsh (the girls are also Bowditch_x0019_ s backup singers) in 2010 and playing Adelaide_x0019_ s Format Festival in 2011, Aluka will play three intimate, entirely acoustic shows as part of the 2012 Adelaide Fringe Festival.
