Better World Arts is an innovative social enterprise working with Aboriginal artists primarily from the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara Lands in the remote desert of South Australia. Better World Arts is committed to promoting reconciliation as the responsibility of all Australians. In 2006, Better World Arts recognised the need for a cultural centre for the Anangu community now residing in Adelaide. Staff and finance from Better World Arts supported and administered the establishment of Ngura Wiru Winkiku Indigenous Corporation, owned by Anangu now living in Adelaide. The cultural centre has created strong social environment and advocacy body for Anangu. The Better World Arts/Ngura Wiru Winkiku Indigenous Corporation partnership is a successful public/private model achieving positive outcomes for the whole community. Situated in the heart of Port Adelaide, we have an extensive retail space, gallery and working artists_x0019_ studio. The gallery is diverse and supports Aboriginal artists of all skill levels. We showcase beautiful, affordable art and hold regular exhibitions. As well as displaying contemporary Aboriginal paintings, the retail shop and gallery is a showroom for our unique Cross Cultural Products, including cushions, rugs, jewellery, boxes and bags, as well as punu (wood carvings), tjanpi (woven sculptural baskets), mukata (beanies), and Aboriginal books.
