Nine artists; John Blines, Nic Brown, Patty Chehade, Robyn Finlay, Maureen Hodgkison, Anja Jagsch, Emmanuel Joubert, Heather Teakle & Sam Trevaskis, all at various stages of their artistic careers have come together in a masterclass with artist and writer; Ruth Hadlow to explore various aspects of the Hahndorf Academy, it_x0019_ s collection and history. In response to this masterclass the nine artists have developed an intriguing body of work for MUSEUM INTERVENTIONS: A RESPONSE TO THE HISTORY AND COLECTIONS OF THE HAHNDORF ACADEMY which showcases thoughtful and exploratory responses to each of their respective area/s of interest. Items of particular interest include the black wedding dress, maps and travel documentation, obscure artefacts (such as a floral arrangement made entirely of human hair) aspects of the building itself, including the _x0018_ graffiti_x0019_ where former Hahndorf Academy students have carved inscriptions into the stone walls, hand made garments and children_x0019_ s toys. This is an exciting exhibition which will invite the viewer to look at the Hahndorf Academy and its histories and collections from new perspectives and will bring stories and objects back to life with a vibrant collection of new artworks encompassing a variety of media including installation, multi-media, painting, textiles, print and photography.
