Visual Art & Design
Presented by:
JAMIE OSBORNE
An Exhibition of Pencil Art, created from photographs by South Australian artist Jamie Osborne, of Sporting Heroes and Entertainment Stars from Australia and around the World. A self taught artist, born in Adelaide, South Australia in 1970, a goal by an Australian Football League player in 1997 which sealed a famous Grand Final victory, also kick started Jamie_x0019_ s art career. Offered an exclusive AFL license, Jamie turned his back on a profession as a Chef to follow his passion for art, focusing on other life-long passions - sport, and entertainment. From late 1998-2001, he produced artworks for the Australian Football League Memorabilia market on an exclusive license, with commissions from several clubs and players. Jamie_x0019_ s artworks are brought to life by the detailed strokes of coloured pencils, working directly from photographs to try to conjure up a unique sense of form, with subtle handling of shades to create life like images of his subjects. Jamie_x0019_ s portrait of former Australian Cricket Captain, Steve Waugh, is displayed in the museum of the historic Adelaide Oval. Jamie was commissioned by Tennis SA to produce an artwork of Lleyton Hewitt, in recognition of his achievement as the world_x0019_ s number one player, and this piece now hangs proudly in the foyer of Tennis SA on Memorial Drive, Adelaide. Jamie has also been commissioned to produce personal portrait works for elite athletes including Tennis star Lleyton Hewitt, Australian Football_x0019_ s favourite son, Harry Kewell, Jockey Kieren McKevoy, and Brazilian football legend, Romario. During the Australian tour of Irish Super Group U2, Jamie was commissioned by the Hyatt Regency, Adelaide to capture the images of the group in art form. This portrait was subsequently signed by all members of the group and is on display in one of the Hotels restaurants. Jamie Osborne_x0019_ s art works have also featured in Art exhibitions including a solo exhibition titled _x001C_ Masters of the Game_x001D_ for the Holdfast bay Council_x0019_ s Discovery Centre, and he has also exhibited his works with other South Australian artists, including world renowned body artist Emma Hack in an Artist_x0019_ s Exhibition at the Queens Theatre, Adelaide.
