Jon Brooks is one of the pioneers of a new wave of Australian political comedy. Intelligent, insightful, and not afraid to call a spade a spade, in just three short years he's gone from braving amateur nights to opening for some of the biggest names in the comedy world, including Jim Jefferies, Steve-O (of MTV's Jackass) and last year won Best Emerging Comedian at the Adelaide Fringe Festival. Brooks_x0019_ unique comedy voice comes from his former life as journalist and political staffer. He_x0019_ s written speeches for state premiers by day and jokes for Rove McManus at night. But it was as a journalist that he got his first real taste of the power of the written word.
