Award winning comedian Markus Birdman returns with his 2nd solo show to Australia, all the way from the UK. What would you do if you were told you only had a short time to live? I_x0019_ d say, get a second opinion. It_x0019_ s about the Big Stuff. It_x0019_ s about Love. It_x0019_ s about Hate. It_x0019_ s about Life. It_x0019_ s about Death. It's about an hour (excluding encores! autographing children etc.) Having performed four sell out solo shows at the Edinburgh Fringe, and at the Melbourne Comedy Festival in Francesca Martinez show, I_x0019_ mPerfect, and delighted audiences from China to Mumbai, from Singapore to Sweden (in fairness he died on his arse in Germany), Markus Birdman is delighted to be premiering his new hilarious show at the Adelaide fringe. _x001C_ Birdman's set made me laugh so hard it hurt. I had never seen or heard of Markus Birdman before tonight, so I had little idea what a treat we were in for. To put it quite simply Birdman absolutely stormed his headline set in a way we have been yet to see from a main act this semester. To be honest it's hard to define what was so great about it, other than to say it was really, really funny. Birdman is the all-round package: witty, controversial, hip, topical, silly. He also had a mastery of timing and physical comedy; filling the vast open expanse that is the Engine Shed stage like few can. His advice on how to use the goose-step to get yourself out of awkward social situations was so funny I damn near cried._x001D_ BBC _x001C_ Engagingly mixes the silly and the downright wrong- goose stepping anyone? -making him a distinctive laugh maker. He has an incontrovertible ability to write a good joke. He can nail an unexpected line so perfectly you wonder why all the hacks never got so inspired_x001D_ Chortle, UK Australian Revues from last years show. Adelaide Advertiser _x0013_ 4 stars This talented comedian delivers a tight show, which keeps the laughs coming across the hour. Birdman's delivery in places is reminiscent of John Cleese and with his foppish charm; even Hugh Grant comes through at times. His improv is second to none with this quick-witted comic keeping audience jibe comebacks running throughout his performance. RIP IT UP We didn_x0019_ t stop laughing throughout! Nor thinking, because Birdman is not only sharp, he_x0019_ s philosophically spot on, asking should you follow your dreams or get a job, and tackling much wider social issues by stealth. Birdman is fast, funny, absurd and amiable, and unafraid to laugh at everybody, particularly himself and his six-year-old daughter. Final Word: Essential.(
