Moataz stepped onto the Adelaide Comedy scene and became one of 2010_x0019_ s comedy-newcomer standouts by reaching the national final of Australia_x0019_ s most renowned comedy contests, Triple J_x0019_ s annual Raw Comedy. Not long after, he took out A-List Entertainment_x0019_ s prestigious Green Faces contest, held annually in Canberra, becoming the national winner and South Australia_x0019_ s first champion in 11 years. He also got to take home the cash prize that ensued and got to perform as part of an ensemble at Australia_x0019_ s Comedy Mecca, the Sydney Comedy Store, with a run of successful shows. At the 2011 Adelaide Fringe Festival, he was a part of the Adelaide Comedy Showcase, a local ensemble of rising stars, handpicked to perform at South Australia_x0019_ s finest comedy venue, the Rhino Room. He also played to sell-out crowds, alongside fellow comedian and friend Amos Gill, in their debut Adelaide Fringe show titled _x001C_ Background Check_x001D_ which proved to be a hit amongst festival goers.
