STATUS UPDATE: A Guide to Life in the Early 21st Century (including but not limited to globalisation, the GFC, social networking, climate change, compassion fatigue, having [gasp!] a social conscience, the Pacific solution, sexting, militant vegans, information overload, Angry Birds & buying non sweatshop jeans that don't make your bum look fat) Life today is challenging. Life today is complicated. Let's face it, life today is hard. Technology was supposed to make us all have so much more free time, increase our quality of life, solve all our love-related disasters. Has it? No flipping heck it hasn't! Instead, we face all the old problems ... as well as a bunch of new ones. & not only that we now get the new ones so much faster thanks to 3G & the not-as-fast-the-NBN-but-still-fast-enough current state of broadband invasion into our homes, phones, cars, fridges & shopping trolleys. This is especially true for Kylie Howard. Early twenties, at uni, not quite sure what she wants from life, where she's going, nor how to get there. Hey, there's no GPS for life (unless you ask the Scientologists, but who wants to do that?) Maybe she doesn_x0019_ t want to accept her mum_x0019_ s recent friend request. Maybe she doesn_x0019_ t want to read about her ex-best friend going out with her ex-boyfriend all the time. Maybe she doesn_x0019_ t care that Mandy & Candy are at Pish-Posh_x0019_ s drinking tequillas & dancing with American sailors, LOL. Maybe she doesn_x0019_ t care that a guy she didn_x0019_ t like in primary school (& doesn_x0019_ t really like now) just got a top score in Farmville. Maybe she just wants a bit of piece & quiet. Dare she say it, privacy? After all, it is a dirty word nowadays. Kylie struggles to manage time, family, friendships, find truelove, master her new iPhone & find the eggs without cheating. You'll see a bit of yourself, a bit of your mates & a lot of your singleslightlycrazyBFF.
