For one evening only, Paper String Plastic Gallery will be showcasing the work of contemporary textile and knitwear artist Rachel Louise Penn. The event will consist of a live catwalk show in the gallery space displaying the unique designs from her most recent collection of bespoke knitted and hand crocheted fashion and jewellery pieces, as well as providing a complimentary glass of wine for everyone. Inspired by nature_x0019_ s defensive mechanisms and alarming colourful designs, the collection is a cutting edge combination of both traditional craft techniques and contemporary design. Rachel uses the technique of hand crochet and knit as a form of sentimental and nostalgic second-skin for the body. She experiments with the contrast between natural hard and soft materials, incorporating wood and ceramics into her designs.
