Right to the Core

Music
Presented by: STOLEN APPLES
At: The Bar on Gouger
Gouger St, Adelaide

Many cover bands play at least a couple of Paul's songs e.g. Dumb Things, To Her Door, but no other Australian band has Paul's endorsement (and his management;s) to play the songs the way Stolen Apples do. The Apples, as they are affectionately known, met with Paul in Adelaide 2009 whilst Paul was touring and he was keenly interested in the band project. 'Right to the Core' aims to give context to not only to the well known songs but also the lesser known songs as well. Paul's book 'How to make gravy' is a fascinating read and for anyone who has read it will know that Paul Kelly is a man of substance, enduring a poet and basically just a really nice nice guy. The interesting thing is that at the commencement of Stolen Apples only the founder knew probably 30 of Paul's songs the other band members even less than half a dozen each. Paul's music is idiosyncratic and unique in its style and structure and with out a doubt very Australian. The online wiki says it much better than can be covered here ... See you at the show .... :)
