Three plays are distilled into one intense and ever moving hour, in which the passionate yet flawed people at the heart of the War of the Roses are revealed. Performed in the round, on a small revolving coronet, this innovative two handed adaptation centers around the interactions of the saga's key figures, in particular Queen Margaret, her husband Henry and the other crucial men whose ambitions, vulnerabilities and decisions, together with her own, shaped a nation. Away from giant battlefields the focus returns to those universally recognisable struggles that exist where seeds are sown and decisions are made. We see a married couple undermined by differing dreams and values, a parents instincts to protect their child, and grief and anger over the loss of a loved one while underneath it all exists the question ever present today: Do we protect or endanger our own by fighting to keep them safe? Together with a chilling sound scape and stark and evocative lighting, choreographed by 2011 Fringe Best Dance nominee Erin Fowler, 'Crowned' promises to be an event of stunning elegance and confronting passion. "Sexy and strong...felt truly part of a very past and bloody world" - Jacqy Phillips
