The Crooked Fiddle Band
The Crooked Fiddle Band: Chainsaw-folk vigilantes The Crooked Fiddle Band have built a reputation as one of Australia's most intense live music experiences. Their high octane performances whip dance floors into joyous frenzies, with their no-holds-barred mash-up of gypsy passion, bluegrass swampstomp and near metal mayhem. European and UK audiences were stunned by the music's intensely raw yet cinematic energy and medieval battle-like climaxes. The band has returned to Australia to launch their new album, _x001C_ Overgrown Tales_x001D_ . Recorded in Chicago by the legendary engineer Steve Albini (Nirvana, The Pixies, Joanna Newsom, Gogol Bordello), this captures the band live and raw. It's like finding a folk tale deep in the forest, overgrown and knarled, with new green shoots, and a few thorns. Intertwining folk traditions with modern evolutions, this Sydney-based acoustic four-piece has been described by Brian Eno as "... completely surprising: the music is original and quixotic, and yet has the strength of some deep and strong roots. I can't say I've ever heard anything else like it!_x001D_
