Direct from their world premiere at Melbourne International Arts Festival, The LoveBirds will inhabit the vibrant, luscious surrounds of the Garden of Unearthly Delights in this year_x0019_ s headline Spiegeltent show. Fringe-goers are destined to fall in love with these adorable creatures, with their exquisite voices charming story and shimmery colourful plumage. Caged by the cold mediocrity of modern day life, The Lovebirds were too joyous, too delightful for the light of day and were condemned to a life of darkness. This Fringe, as the glorious summer days give in to night, these rare and illusive characters will emerge from their underworld to share provocative, heart-warming tales of wandering souls looking to be saved and pining for love. Devised and written by award-winning singer, cabaret artist and dancer, Simone Page Jones (Sveta Dobranoch, star of Company of Strangers), The LoveBirds pays homage to 1930s bohemia and the psychedelic, sexually ambiguous nature of San Francisco's cult theatrical commune, the Cockettes. This exotic new breed of cabaret is performed by a motley crew of wayward cabaret darlings and backed by their live band, performing an original score, whilst lead by the exceptionally talented Matthew Carey. The LoveBirds is produced by the internationally renowned Strut & Fret Production House, creators of such Fringe hits as Cantina, Tom Tom Crew and A Company of Strangers and co-producers of the Garden of Unearthly Delights.
