microMACRO

Music
Presented by: Zephyr Quartet
At: The Wheatsheaf Hotel
39 George St, Thebarton

microMACRO is a dynamic new music and live art performance by Zephyr Quartet and Jo Kerlogue. Organic and raw, the performance explores themes of nature on a micro and macro scale in a fifty-minute intimate sensory experience for the eyes and ears. The audience is taken on an extraordinary journey with the artists as they craft a universe, where worlds are created, destroyed, and then resolved into yet another entity entirely. Jo Kerlogue uses charcoal and paint in a dynamic drawing style incorporating almost dance-like movements. Zephyr Quartet_x0019_ s original semi-improvised score for live, amplified string quartet utilises a wide palette of expression, from scratching insect-like percussion, to haunting whale-song, to driving, hypnotic rhythms and soaring, orchestral melodies. Together they create a remarkable live experience. In a world where the refined, absolute and ordered are the forefront of our existence, microMACRO offers us a glimpse into the evolving, organic nature of life with a performance that is utterly unique every time it is witnessed.
