Aurora is an a cappella women’s ensemble that performs a range of repertoire from early music to contemporary pop. The group made its 4.5 star debut in the 2010 Adelaide International Fringe Festival with “That Lonesome Road” and completed its acclaimed season of “FEVER” in the 2011 Fringe Festival, being described as “they got rhythm… and seriously good voices”. (Adelaide Advertiser March 2011). Their witty 2012 Fringe show "Signed, Sealed, Delivered" captured a new audience at Nexus Cabaret and they return for their 2013 season “Joyful Girl” with the acclaimed Aurora String Quartet. The seeds of the program began as a tribute to women in music – from singer/songwriters like Annie Lennox, Ani di Franco, Björk and Christine McVie to poet Hila Plitmann and the romantic ideal of the woman as muse. We threw in some musing men and then it evolved. Featuring iconic music with attitude by Annie Lennox, The Police, George Michael and many more, Aurora’s vocabulary will range from romantic to witty to overwrought. With a frank and sometimes bittersweet view on life, Aurora’s Joyful Girl will bring a tear to your eye and a smile to your lips. It’s what’s inside that counts…
