Music often makes us feel emotions which cannot simply be spoken. It should push us to a place that we cannot be sent by sentences nor signposts - lead us to feel lost or elated – not merely putting feelings on display. But sometimes, just sometimes, the music isn't enough. With their debut EP just released, Melbourne band Beloved Elk are taking a new step with their art and translating a deeply personal musical language into a spectacle of theatre. ‘Beloved’ is a work inspired not just by music, but by the days that draw the music out of us. The band have bravely taken their voices out of their instruments and put it all on a stage, giving light to what was just beautiful noise. You will be pulled into the world they have imagined, into what you have already felt but never quite seen. Written by Amy Wright, directed by Jess Keeffe and starring the members of Beloved Elk - with special guests. This is an inspired, affecting, and truly original work that is not to be missed.
