Chronical The songs of Luke Escombe "It's rare to find two artists as symbiotic....One of the highlights of Fringe 2013!" - Rip it up "If you like the blues, you’ll love this show. Original songs and not one but two great guitarists from Sydney and Melbourne" - Talkfringe.com London-born singer Luke Escombe joins forces with 22 year old Melbourne bassist James Gilligan for a free-flowing 70 minutes of 21st century blues and roots music, filled with stories, humour, improvisation, honesty and unexpected tangents Writing for Rip It Up magazine Jenna Bonavita described how "the extraordinarily talented and unassuming bassist James Gilligan...not only provides the driving bottom-end but simultaneously produces chord accompaniment, making the need for any other musician obsolete", adding: "if you have even a remote interest in the blues this is one show not to be missed!" Many of the songs are drawn from Luke’s self-produced album "Mantown", which has to date spent 7 consecutive months in the top ten of the Australian blues and roots airplay charts. Writing for the Sydney Morning Herald John Shand compared his "commanding voice" to the likes of Bruce Springsteen and Nick Cave and declared him a "blistering blues guitarist".
