WOOD: art design architecture

JamFactory in collaboration with the Botanic Gardens of Adelaide present a nationally touring exhibition examining the most innovative and outstanding ways that wood is being used by artists, designers and architects in the 21st century. The exhibition will include furniture and functional objects, sculptural objects (including wood carvings by Indigenous artists), installations and architectural works via video documentary, models and sectional prototypes related to specific interiors, buildings and environments. The exhibition will focus on work by 27 contemporary artists, designers and architects from across Australia. Wood: art design architecture will be shown across two venues in Adelaide – JamFactory and the Santos Museum of Economic Botany within the Botanic Gardens of Adelaide – (15 February – 6 April 2013) before touring nationally to eight other venues nationally including Riddoch Art Gallery, Mount Gambier (3 May – 30 June 2013), Design Centre Tasmania, Launceston (12 July – 8 September 2013) and Bathurst Regional Gallery, Bathurst (25 October – 8 December 2013). The exhibition has been co-curated by Brian Parkes and Elliat Rich, supported by the Commonwealth Government’s Contemporary Touring Initiative and is principally sponsored by the Forest and Wood Products Association’s Wood – Naturally Better promotion.
