“George.............don't do that”. Remember that line? How about the galleons gliding across the dance floor? 'Lumpy Latimer' at the old girls reunion? Joyce Grenfell was a much loved comedienne who made you rock with laughter in a time when even the word bosom was considered quite outrageous. Taken from the best of her repertoire, Liz Hirstle recreates characters from some of her most loved monologues and songs. Using only quick changes on stage, a few unexpected props and a long suffering accompanist she presents an hour of laughter and nostalgia including the foreign lady at a cocktail party who does not have a firm grasp of the English language; the nursery school teacher who is totally unsuited to the job; the two ladies who enjoy old time dancing although there are never enough men to go around, and much more. Joyce Grenfell also had a poignant side and this is explored too. All this and a Ritz style afternoon tea and you have a super afternoon full of entertainment for the whole family.
