The Riverland region sits far from street lamps, shop lights, electric signs and car headlights. The night is lit mainly by starlight and the occasional passing truck lights and farmhouses. Alone in the dark what do you feel? Not knowing what is in front of you or what is behind you? What sounds surround you? The unknown. In the Dark is a theatrical experiment created by Riverland’s young people which explores actual and metaphorical darkness. The audience will be plunged into darkness during which a theatrical adventure will unfold. Devised with input from 200 young Riverlanders, In the Dark explores an individuals’ capacity to meet the unknown and fear head-on. Premiered in Riverland and Regional Arts Australia Conference Goolwa in 2012.
