Members create stories, through visual imagery in a diverse artistic range of art, in mediums of painting, sculpture, printmaking, textiles, ceramics, photography and mixed media with differing skills and abilities. In 2013 with a growing membership of about 300, the Society provides members the possibility of participating in seasonal exhibitions, along with Fringe events and involvement in special exhibitions. The Society stages major retrospectives, e.g. Jeff Smart & His Contemporaries in late 2012 and assisted in celebrating the 80th Year of the Credit Union Christmas Pageant, Artistry in Motion, with artist Gary Lee Gaston, one of the pageant designers.The Royal South Australian Society of Arts founded in 1856, by prominent International artists who called this new colony home. The Society organised local and Federal exhibitions, of which enabled local identities to purchase artworks of renown value.
