Cabaret
Presented by: SALLY ANDERSON PRODUCTIONS

6212_sallyfringe_eful_guide

A moving tribute to one of the great Soul Divas of the last century. Renowned Australian Jazz Singer, Sally Anderson and her band give heartfelt renditions of the songs Sarah Vaughan loved and made famous and tells her lifestory through her music. In a relaxed cabaret-style atmosphere of the SoulBox you'll be treated to over an hour of pure jazz and soul music. The life of Sarah Vaughan is an interesting one. Born in 1924, Sarah was raised in Newark, New Jersey in a very srict religious environment. At a very early age Sarah realised all she wanted to do was sing. She would wag school often and would sneak out at night to watch her favourite singers in Jazz Clubs. On Sundays at her local church she became the main singer. From her gospel roots she achieved world fame in the jazz and soul world. Her career spanned for 5 decades, performing and recording. She lived the fast life and did everything to excess. She would often party all night yet was still able to deliver faultless performances the following night. She was knicknamed appropriately and affectionately, "Sassie." A must see for all Jazz and Soul music lovers.
