Nowhere to Hide
Visual Art & Design
Presented by:
SUE MINTER
My childhood was spent in 1970s Adelaide, making macramé pot holders, Hobbeytex pictures and roller skating at Downtown. Every chick eventually leaves the nest, and after spending the 1980s with hair of a colourful plumage, I flew to London for new adventures. While working at several newspapers and magazines, I studied for a BA(Hons) in jewellery and silversmithing. Prior to the 2013 Adelaide Fringe, I have exhibited rubber and metal jewellery in London, Germany and Adelaide. London was a fantastic place to live, study and work. Eventually I came back to Adelaide with renewed interest. How wonderful it is to land in Adelaide and see the coloured rooves, the tin, the stobie poles and the blue of the sky. I travel regularly to the City but now live 130kmNE on the Mallee. In winter my dog and I enjoy walks through the paddocks of spear grass, disturbing the occasional button quail, the motif for Nowhere to Hide. I have many animal and insect visitors to my home and the night sky in the bush is magical. There are treasures found on bush walks and there is silence that gives you space to wonder, where do partridges live?
