Sister Mary Lucy

Cabaret
Presented by: THE FACTORY
At: LA BOHEME
36 GROTE STREET ADELAIDE 5000

Lucy Russell knows better than anyone that Julie Andrews had the right idea when she donned a habit and headed for the hills. Signing up to the nearest nunnery sounds like a good idea when Jesus dons a Superman t-shirt, a nun can snag a spunky Austrian captain and Judas wears a white, bedazzled jumpsuit and boogies-down with a horde of afro’d back up dancers. Or so Broadway led Lucy to believe. Emerging cabaret performer Lucy Russell returns to La Boheme in her show, Sister Mary Lucy – a tribute to her misguided and bizarre fascination with nuns. From misadventures in Catholic school to her stint as Mob Member #8 in a local production of Jesus Christ Superstar, this is one girl's journey in and out of the nunnery through song, story and sock puppet. "There are some singers who make you wonder why they're not an international sensation. Lucy Russell is one of them. With an angelic voice and a gorgeous grin, her exploration of Catholic nuns leads to an eye-opening epiphany in her Cabaret Fringe show, Sister Mary Lucy." Rod Lewis, Glam Adelaide
