Tim Fitzhigham - The Gambler
Comedy
Presented by:
SOMETHING FOR THE WEEKEND
Multi award-winning comedian, author, adventurer and world record holder FitzHigham has lots of bad ideas (he rowed the English Channel in a bathtub and up the River Thames in a paper boat). Now, with help from Top Gear's Richard Hammond, he takes on the 10 greatest bets in history. Inspired by centuries-old bets recorded in the betting books of revered gentlemen’s clubs, Tim attempts: Standing on one leg for 12 hours in a bet with Neil Morrissey (a bet from the year 1815) Pushing a wheelbarrow from Hertfordshire to Shoreditch in 11 hours, in a bet with Top Gear’s Richard Hammond (as first attempted by Goliath Shadbolt in 1789) Racing a racehorse over 100 yards Walking backwards for 30 miles Tim explores why we’re all gamblers at heart – whether we like it or not. For his efforts, Tim partially severed his finger, broke a rib, fractured a toe and put his house up for sale. What damage will his Adelaide season inflict? The Gambler played a sell-out run at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival last year. "Delightfully eccentric… endearingly daft. ****" Herald Sun. "Gut-bustingly funny" The Scotsman (UK) **** The Age
