‘Culture with teeth’ A play on the words Vagina Dentata, which occurs in several myths about the strong archetypal woman, impenetrable by man, where often the hero must consummate with the female successfully without having his masculinity ripped from him in order to maintain the equilibrium of the masculine and feminine. ‘Culture with teeth’ pertains metaphorically to ‘consuming’ life, our experiences, our joys and woes, culturally and spiritually in order to maintain balance and equilibrium. Ritual underscores the passage between spiritual, social and religious states. Ritual creates a performative practice, within it’s members of community, honouring, traditional cultural bonds for a myriad of reasons. . ‘Cultura Dentata’ explores the rich tapestry of experience that each and every one is a part of influencing and how the multiplicity of our experiences as we move through life shape our ‘holistic’ or ‘multicultural bodies’. The obsession with the flesh and adorning, marking and decorating, is an ancient tradition, as much as it is a modern fetish. Fetish in a more modern sense plays the role of ritual, particularly for individuals who are no longer bound by a common cultural thread, nor share common cultural ritualistic
